Children at ShadowGlen Elementary got in the giving spirit early this holiday season.
Bobcat students sponsored a gift drive for two families from Refugio, Texas still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. Many students attending Refugio ISD lost their homes and are still in need.
First grade students decided they wanted to help. They created the Hurricane Harvey Gift Drive. The children made ornaments for their "Giving Tree". Those who wanted to donate could take an ornament off the tree and purchase the item listed on the ornament, and return items to a first grade teacher. Bobcat First Graders also made posters to hang around SGE to advertise the gift drive.
"I am so proud of our first graders," said SGE Principal Andrea Easley. "They are learning how to give to others while applying a real-world situation to their learning. It is exciting to see them excited about doing it."
Manor ISD congratulates our SGE first graders, and thanks them for their generosity!
