Samsung Austin Semiconductor Supports Manor ISD Initiatives with $178,000 donation

Longtime Manor ISD partner Samsung Austin Semiconductor is supporting district programs with a $178,000 donation, the district announced Wednesday.

The funds will support Manor ISD’s Fine Arts programs, the annual Resource Fair, the Back To School Literacy Bash, and Breakthrough Central Texas summer programs and field trips. The donation will partially fund a position with the Expect Respect program through Safe Alliance, which addresses student safety by educating teens about dating violence, harassment, and bullying, as well as a behavioral health therapist with Integral Care.

“Samsung Austin Semiconductor truly exemplifies what it means to be an educational partner,” said Becky Lott, Director of Student and Family Support Services. “They provide so much more than just money—Samsung employees are a constant presence on our campuses as mentors, advisors, collaborators and more.”

Manor ISD relies on its partners to help fund high-quality programs because the share of funding from the state has continued to decrease in recent legislative sessions.

Before the grant, Samsung Austin Semiconductor has most recently sponsored the Manor ISD Reading On The Go bus, held an art show reception for students, and provided engineers to assist in science- and math-related lessons at several elementary and middle school campuses.

“I want to thank Samsung for their continued support,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Royce Avery. “They truly are integral in the vision laid out for us by our Board of Trustees: to become the destination school district in Central Texas.”
