Welcome to SGES Counseling and Guidance!

Thank you for visiting my webpage!  I am so happy and honored to be part of the SGE team as School Counselor and join in our mission to dare each student to impact the world!
The counseling and guidance component at SGES will offer many things including:
Guidance Lessons:
Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will receive guidance lessons from the school counselor.  The purpose of guidance lessons is to help all students develop their full educational potential.  In Texas, the guidance curriculum is designed to help students acquire age-appropriate knowledge and skills within the scope of the following content areas: self-confidence development, motivation to achieve, decision-making, goal-setting, problem-solving skills, communication skills, cross-cultural effectiveness and responsible behavior.
Small group counseling:
Social skills groups will be offered on various topics such as grief, divorce, friendship, et cetera throughout the year.  In addition, “Lunch Bunch” groups will occur during students designated lunch times. The purpose of these groups is to develop appropriate social skills, emotional management, build relationships, learn strategies for success in the academic setting, team building and steps to diffuse anger.
Individual counseling:
Short term individual counseling is available to students at the request of parents/guardians, students and teachers to meet the needs of all students expressing difficulties dealing with academic achievement, personal concerns or normal developmental tasks.
Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have concerns or questions. I believe that it truly “takes a village to raise a child” and hope to support your student and family in anyway I can.
